At a glance

Strictly necessary cookies: Used to keep Elegrab secure and working and to deliver features you request. These do not require consent.
Functional / preference cookies: Used to remember choices such as export format and display preferences. Elegrab treats these as opt-in outside the limited UK circumstances described below.
Analytics / performance cookies: Not enabled by default. If introduced, they will be opt-in and disclosed here before use.
Advertising / marketing cookies: Not currently used by Elegrab.
Non-essential cookies: Off by default unless you turn them on.
Cookie choices: You can accept all, reject all, or manage individual categories, and you can change your choice later.
Global Privacy Control (GPC): Elegrab detects and honours GPC and similar automated opt-out signals for non-essential cookies and applicable sale/sharing opt-outs.

1. Who this Cookie Policy applies to

Elegrab ("Elegrab," "we," "us," or "our") is a full-page website screenshot tool. This Cookie Policy explains how Elegrab uses cookies and similar technologies at elegrab.com and in related apps and services (the "Service"), and the choices available to visitors worldwide.

This Cookie Policy is intended to address the requirements of the UK GDPR and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the EU General Data Protection Regulation and applicable national ePrivacy laws, US state privacy laws including CCPA/CPRA and comparable laws, Canada's PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25, Australia's Privacy Act 1988, and New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020.

Elegrab applies one consistent standard worldwide: non-essential cookies are off unless you turn them on.

This Cookie Policy should be read alongside the Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how Elegrab handles personal data.

2. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website.

For this policy, "cookies" also includes similar technologies that store or read information on your device or browser, including:

These technologies do not read content stored elsewhere on your device, such as files, photos, or other apps. They concern information that the Service itself has placed on or requested from your device or browser.

3. What cookies does Elegrab use?

Elegrab is designed to work without an account or browser extension: you paste a URL and receive a screenshot. As a result, Elegrab's cookie footprint is deliberately small.

Strictly necessary Delivers a feature you requested or keeps the Service secure and operational. Consent: No. Current Elegrab use: Free-tier limit of five captures per day per device on a rolling 24-hour basis; session handling during an active capture; load balancing across rendering infrastructure; CSRF and bot-abuse protection.
Functional / preference Remembers a choice so you do not have to make it again. Consent: Generally no in the UK, subject to an opt-out; treated as opt-in everywhere else Elegrab operates, as a precaution. Current Elegrab use: Last-used export format (PNG, JPG, or PDF), browser-frame toggle, and address-bar-overlay setting.
Analytics / performance Provides aggregate usage information to improve reliability and features. Consent: Opt-in where applicable. Current Elegrab use: Not enabled by default. If Elegrab introduces a privacy-respecting analytics tool, this table will be updated with the provider, purpose, and retention period before it goes live.
Advertising / marketing Personalises advertising or measures advertising campaigns. Consent: Opt-in everywhere this category applies. Current Elegrab use: Not currently used. Elegrab does not run advertising or retargeting cookies as of the date of this policy.

Does Elegrab use login or account cookies?

Not currently. Elegrab does not currently require sign-up to use the free tier, so persistent account-authentication cookies are not set today.

If paid plans and accounts are introduced, Elegrab will add authentication and billing-related cookies to the strictly necessary category and update this policy before those cookies go live.

4. How cookie consent works at Elegrab

When you first visit Elegrab, the cookie banner gives you three choices:

You can change your cookie choice at any time using the cookie preferences link in the site footer. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off through this control because the Service may not function without them. For example, Elegrab needs a way to recognise a device to enforce the free-tier daily capture limit.

5. Global Privacy Control and automated opt-out signals

Elegrab detects and honours the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal and similar automated opt-out signals as a valid request to opt out of non-essential cookies and applicable sale or sharing of personal information, consistent with California, Colorado, Connecticut, and other state laws that recognise such signals.

6. Does Elegrab use third-party cookies?

Where a third-party service sets its own cookies—for example, a future payment processor for paid plans or an analytics provider—that provider may act as an independent controller or processor for the data it collects. Its own privacy and cookie practices will apply in addition to Elegrab's.

Elegrab will name third-party providers in the cookie table above and link to their relevant policy once they are in use. Elegrab does not currently share cookie data with advertising networks or data brokers.

7. Cookie rules by region

United Kingdom: Elegrab complies with PECR as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Since 5 February 2026, certain low-risk cookies used solely for first-party statistical/analytics, appearance, security, or software-update purposes may be used on an opt-out rather than opt-in basis when the statutory conditions are met. Elegrab still provides notice and an easy way to opt out. Cookies used for advertising or cross-site profiling continue to require opt-in consent.

European Union and EEA: Elegrab relies on applicable ePrivacy rules in each EU/EEA member state together with the GDPR. Non-essential cookies are only set with prior, freely given, specific, and informed consent, and consent can be withdrawn as easily as it was given. The European Commission has proposed changes to this framework as part of its "Digital Omnibus" package. That proposal is still under negotiation and is not yet law, so it does not change what applies today. Elegrab will update this section if and when the proposal is adopted.

United States: US comprehensive state privacy laws, including California's CCPA/CPRA and comparable state laws, can provide rights to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. In many states, recognised automated opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control must also be honoured; Elegrab honours GPC. Where a state requires opt-in consent for sensitive personal information, Elegrab obtains that consent before relevant processing occurs.

Canada: At the federal level, PIPEDA requires meaningful consent, which Elegrab obtains through clear notice and the cookie controls described in this policy. In Quebec, Law 25 applies a stricter standard. Tracking, profiling, and location technologies are off by default and only activate after opt-in consent, consistent with Elegrab's worldwide approach.

Australia: The Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles require transparency about personal information collected through cookies and collection limited to what is reasonably necessary. This Cookie Policy and Elegrab's opt-in-by-default approach are designed to satisfy those requirements. Elegrab will update its disclosures as further Privacy Act reforms, including automated-decision-making transparency requirements taking effect in December 2026, come into force.

New Zealand: The Privacy Act 2020 requires clear notice about personal information collected through cookies and why it is collected. Elegrab provides that notice in this policy and gives visitors control over non-essential cookies through its cookie preference controls.

8. How to manage or delete cookies in your browser

Every major browser provides controls to block or delete cookies. Because browser controls are managed by the browser rather than Elegrab, consult your browser's current help documentation for the exact steps. Browser settings and menus can change between versions.

Important: Blocking strictly necessary cookies in your browser may prevent parts of Elegrab from working correctly, including free-tier rate limiting.

9. How long do Elegrab cookies last?

Cookie duration depends on the purpose of the cookie:

10. Changes to this Cookie Policy

Elegrab updates this page when its actual use of cookies or similar technologies changes.

Examples include the launch of:

Elegrab will update the "Last reviewed" date when the policy is reviewed. Where a change is material, Elegrab will provide a more prominent notice or request fresh consent where required by law.

11. Cookie Policy FAQ

Does Elegrab use cookies?

Yes. Elegrab uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies to keep the Service secure, functional, and able to enforce limits such as the free-tier daily capture allowance. Non-essential cookies are off by default unless you enable them.

Does Elegrab use advertising or retargeting cookies?

No. As of 16 August 2026, Elegrab does not use advertising or retargeting cookies and does not currently run advertising.

Does Elegrab use analytics cookies?

Not by default. Analytics/performance cookies are not currently enabled by default. If Elegrab introduces a privacy-respecting analytics provider, the provider, purpose, and retention period will be added to this policy before the tool goes live.

Can I reject all non-essential cookies?

Yes. The cookie banner provides a "Reject all" option that keeps only strictly necessary cookies.

Can I change my cookie preferences later?

Yes. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie preferences link in the Elegrab site footer.

Does Elegrab honour Global Privacy Control?

Yes. Elegrab detects and honours Global Privacy Control (GPC) and similar automated opt-out signals for non-essential cookies and applicable sale or sharing opt-outs.

Does Elegrab use third-party cookies?

Third-party cookies are not currently used for advertising or shared with advertising networks or data brokers. If a third-party service such as a future payment processor or analytics provider sets cookies, Elegrab will identify that provider and its purpose in the cookie table.

How long do Elegrab cookies remain on my device?

Session-based strictly necessary cookies expire when you close your browser. The free-tier usage counter can persist for up to 24 hours on a rolling basis. Future functional or analytics cookies will have their retention periods disclosed in the cookie table.

Can I block Elegrab cookies in my browser?

Yes. Major browsers let you block or delete cookies. However, blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause parts of Elegrab to stop working correctly, including free-tier rate limiting.
