TERMS OF USE

Things You Should Know

Last updated: 02 August 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a contract between you and Elegrab.com, operated as Elegrab ("Elegrab", "we", "us"). They govern your access to and use of the Elegrab website and screenshot-generation service (the "Service").

By using Elegrab, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. What Elegrab Does

Elegrab lets you generate a screenshot of any publicly accessible webpage by pasting in its URL. Under the hood, a headless Chromium browser loads the page at a 1920×1080 viewport, waits for network activity to settle, and blocks common cookie, GDPR, and newsletter pop-ups by default. You can then download the result as a PNG, JPG, or PDF, optionally wrapped in a browser frame showing the source URL.

The Service only works on pages that don't require a login — if a URL is private, paywalled, or otherwise gated, Elegrab will return an error rather than a capture.

We aim for pixel-accurate, Retina-quality output, but a rendered screenshot can never be guaranteed identical to what you'd see in your own browser — page state, timing, geo-blocking, and 30-second render timeouts can all affect the result. We don't warrant that any capture is complete, current, or error-free.

2. Who Can Use Elegrab

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, to use Elegrab in your own right. If you're between 13 and that age, you may use it only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf. Elegrab is not directed at children under 13, and we'll close any account we learn belongs to a child under that age.

3. Your Account and Usage Limits

No account or installation is needed to use the free tier, which currently allows five captures per day per device, resetting on a rolling 24-hour window rather than at midnight. We may introduce paid plans, accounts, or different limits in future; where we do, additional terms will apply and we'll make them clear before you're bound by them.

You're responsible for any use of the Service through your device or IP address, and for not circumventing rate limits (e.g. via bots, proxies, or scripted abuse).

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Elegrab to:

We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who breaches this section, without notice where the breach is serious or ongoing.

5. Ownership

The Service. Elegrab's software, branding, website, and underlying technology are owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms don't transfer any of that to you — you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service as intended.

Content you capture. We claim no ownership over the screenshots you generate. However, the underlying webpage content in any screenshot usually belongs to whoever owns that page, not to you or to us. Elegrab is a capture tool, not a rights-clearing service: you're responsible for making sure you have a lawful basis to capture, keep, and use a screenshot of any given page — for example under fair use/fair dealing, a licence, or the page owner's permission. We're not liable for how you use output from the Service.

Copyright complaints. If you believe a capture made through Elegrab infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us at admin@elegrab.com with the URL involved, a description of your rights, and your contact details, and we'll investigate and act as required under applicable law (including the US DMCA, the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act, and the EU Digital Services Act's notice-and-action rules).

6. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect (including URLs submitted and any personal data that may incidentally appear in a screenshot), how long we keep generated files, and your rights over your data under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and equivalent laws in Canada (PIPEDA), Australia (Privacy Act), New Zealand (Privacy Act), and applicable US state laws. It forms part of these Terms.

7. Service Availability and Disclaimers

We work to keep Elegrab reliable, but we don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it. To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that can't lawfully be excluded — including, where you're a consumer, our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or breach of statutory guarantees under laws such as the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Australian Consumer Law, or New Zealand's Consumer Guarantees Act. Where such laws apply and can't be excluded but liability can be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the Service or the cost of doing so.

8. Limitation of Liability

Subject to Section 7, to the maximum extent permitted by law, we won't be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data, or business, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is capped at the greater of £50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

9. Indemnity

You agree to cover reasonable losses, damages, and costs we incur as a result of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of a screenshot generated through the Service — for example, if a third party brings a claim against us because of content you captured or how you used it. This doesn't apply where the loss resulted from our own breach or negligence.

10. Suspension and Termination

You can stop using Elegrab at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service — where practical, we'll give you notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law) continue to apply after termination.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We'll post the revised version here with an updated date, and for material changes we'll make reasonable efforts to flag them (e.g. a website notice). Continuing to use Elegrab after changes take effect means you accept them.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the English courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from them. If you're a consumer resident in the EU, US, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, this choice doesn't take away any protection you're entitled to under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country, and you may also be able to bring proceedings in your local courts under those laws.

13. General

Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

No waiver. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of our right to do so later.

Assignment. You can't transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may assign ours, e.g. as part of a merger or sale of the business.

Entire agreement. Together with our Privacy Policy, these Terms are the whole agreement between us regarding the Service.
